    RYOBI® stapler FAQs

How does a staple gun work?

A spring or compressed air is used to drive staples into materials like wood, fabric or upholstery. When you pull the trigger, the mechanism inside the gun releases a burst of force that pushes a staple from the magazine into the material. The staple is then pressed into place by the front of the gun, securing the materials together.

What size staples do I need for a RYOBI® stapler?

It's important to choose the right size and type of staple to ensure optimal performance.

The R18ST50-0 Cordless Stapler requires T50-style staples with a 10mm crown width.

The R18GS18-0 Cordless Stapler works with 18-gauge narrow crown staples ranging from 10mm to 38mm in length.

The RST4-0 Cordless Stapler supports T50 staples up to 14mm, T25 staples up to 9mm, JT21 staples up to 9mm, and 18-gauge brads up to 15mm.

Always check the user manual for more information on compatible staples.

Can a staple gun go through metal?

Staple guns are designed to work with materials like fabric and wood, so they lack the power to penetrate metal. If you need to fasten to metal surfaces, you'll need specialised tools like a nail gun designed for that purpose.
