This Privacy Statement explains how we use personal data about visitors to our Site, including customers and potential customers and about individuals that get in contact with us, our distributors, resellers and suppliers and those individuals whose personal data we otherwise process in the course of our business. This statement also covers data processing related to job applications and our recruitment activities. 

We will only use personal data in ways that are described in this statement and only ways that are consistent with our obligations and your rights under applicable data protection laws.

For the purpose of applicable data protection laws, the data controller (in other words, the organisation that determines how and for what purposes your personal data is used) will be one of Techtronic Industries EMEA Ltd’s group companies (in each case "we", "us", "our"), depending on the territory in which you are based.  For example, if you are a UK-based customer, then the controller of your personal data is Techtronic Industries UK Ltd, whose registered address is at Suite A, Second Floor, Parkway, Marlow, Bucks, England, SL7 1YL England. Ryobi Tools is a trading name of Techtronic Industries UK Ltd and other members of the corporate group.

Ways in which you might provide the data to us

This is personal data about you that you give us, which can happen in a wide variety of ways, including by creating an account with us on our Site, making a purchase from our Site (or from us if you are one of our distributors or resellers), providing product testimonial via video footage and/or on our Site for marketing use,  asking us to provide you with products and services and your use of those products or services, signing up to our newsletter, registering the tools and equipment you have purchased with us, including registering them for extended warranty, corresponding with us by e-mail, telephone or SMS or if you mention or interact with us on social media (for example by mentioning/tagging us or by contacting us directly). Please note, if you call our customer services line, we may record your call for training, monitoring and quality assurance purposes.

It also includes personal data you provide when you enter one of our competitions or promotions, if you complete one of our customer satisfaction surveys, provide us with feedback on our tools and equipment, search for a product on our Site, report a problem with our Site or tools and equipment, enter into a contract with us or otherwise provide us with any personal data.

What type of data might be included?

The personal data you give us may include but is not limited to: your name, postal address, e-mail address and phone number (including mobile number), gender (and preferred salutation), date of birth, social media handle and personal data on your social media account, financial and credit card personal data, purchase history (and sales history if you are a distributor or a reseller), thoughts about our products (including complaints), and any content relevant to entering one of our competitions or promotions (which may include a photo). If you are one of our distributors, resellers or suppliers, we will process your business contact details and your job role.

We will only ever ask you to give us personal data which we need in order to provide you with the products or services that you have requested from us.

Job applicants

If you apply for a role with one of our group companies, we will collect a range of information directly from you either by email, over the phone or via an online job application process/system which may include but is not limited to: your name, address and phone number (including mobile number), email address, gender (and preferred salutation) date of birth, your health information (if relevant to your application), the contents of your CV (including details of previous roles, any relevant qualifications you have obtained and any languages that you speak), evidence that you are legally permitted to work in the country you are applying for a role in, your current and desired annual salary, your current notice period, candidate portfolio, whether you have previously been employed by us or one of our group companies, how you heard about the role you are applying for and any other information that we reasonably require as part of the recruitment process.

Events and webinars

If you attend one of our online publicity sessions, such as a product launch webinar, we will process your personal data when you register for the event. We may also process your personal data in the form of video or audio recordings if you make a comment or ask us a question during the session. We may record sessions for our wider publicity purposes to make the session available to other customers online via our social media channels and website. The legal basis for such processing is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR since it is in our legitimate interests to do so, and we make sure that your rights are protected. We will always tell you in advance of the session that it is being recorded.  If you don't want to be recorded, we ask that you please don't say anything or participate in any way during the session.

  • Personal data we collect or generate about you. 

When you visit our Site or get in touch with us, we may collect, generate, store and use certain personal data about you.

This personal data may include: technical information, including the Internet protocol (IP) address used to connect your computer to the Internet, your login information (if accessing an  account with us), browser type and version, time zone setting, browser plug-in types and versions, device types, operating system, time and date of consent and platform and any phone number used to call our customer service number.

It may also include information about your visit to our Site, including the full Uniform Resource Locators (URL), clickstream to, through and from our site (including date and time), products you viewed, searched for or purchased, page response times, download errors, length of visits to certain pages, page interaction information (such as scrolling, clicks, and mouse-overs) and methods used to browse our Site.

This information is used by us to administer our Site and for internal operations, including troubleshooting, data analysis, testing, research, statistical and survey purposes and for the control of illegal acts.  We reserve the right to check these log files and data retroactively if there is reasonable suspicion of an illegal act due to concrete indications. We safeguard your interests by anonymizing your IP address upon collection so that you are not identifiable.

  • Personal data we receive from other sources. 

We may occasionally receive personal data about you from other sources, for example if you leave a review on our third party consumer review platform or use any of the other websites we operate or the other services we provide as part of our corporate group. We may also occasionally be processing your personal data where we have identified and/or are notified by one of our third-party partners that you may be infringing our intellectual property rights. Where doing so won't impact on any investigation that we are carrying out, we will notify you when we receive personal data about you from other sources and the purposes for which we intend to use that personal data as well as the lawful basis for such processing.

We rely on our contractual arrangements with you as the lawful basis on which we collect and process your personal data in relation to an order for products and services.

 

Alternatively, in some scenarios, we rely on our legitimate interests as a business (for example, it is in our interests to measure customer satisfaction and troubleshoot customer issues). To measure how satisfied our Site visitors and our customers are and provide customer service (including troubleshooting in connection with the tools and equipment that you purchase from us or when you ask us questions by email, on the phone or on social media).

We use an external company, Trustpilot A/S ("Trustpilot"), to collect your feedback which means that we will share your name, email address and reference number with Trustpilot for the Purpose. When you leave a review on Trustpilot, they will be a data controller for your personal data. To use the reviews, comments and feedback that you leave on Trustpilot (or otherwise) or provide to us for our own advertising purposes.

Our group companies are located all around the world (including Hong Kong and the US) and this may result in the transfer of your personal data outside of the UK and the European Economic Area (as discussed in more detail in the 'Where your personal data may be processed' section below).

Whenever we transfer your personal data between companies within the TTI group of companies, we always implement appropriate safeguards to protect your personal data, including by executing particular contract terms such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

Third party suppliers and service providers involved in our contractual relationship with you:

Like most businesses, we work with third party suppliers and service providers as part of the day to day operation of our business. Some of these trusted suppliers will process your personal data on our behalf and provide services to us such as website hosting, delivery fulfilment and taking payments on our behalf.
