    Rotary Tool FAQs

    What are rotary tools?

Rotary tools are versatile power tools that use a rotating spindle to attach various sanding, grinding, cutting, polishing, carving and engraving attachments. They're compact and lightweight with variable speed to suit detailed, intricate tasks, often in small or hard-to-reach areas. Their big plus is their 'Swiss Army knife' adaptability, allowing you to perform multiple tasks normally requiring multiple tools.

Our cordless rotary tools run on rechargeable batteries, making them extra portable and ideal for areas without easy access to power outlets.

What can I do with a rotary tool?

Whether you need a rotary tool for sanding, sculpting or something else, our rotary tool kits equip you for a host of jobs including:

    • Grinding and sharpening metal or removing rust from surfaces.
    • Sanding wood, plastic and metal surfaces for a smooth finish.
    • Cutting through materials like plastic, metal, wood or tiles with the right cutting discs or attachments.
    • Engraving and carving designs on wood, metal or even glass.
    • Polishing and buffing to shine or buff materials, useful for automotive detailing or fine jewellery.
    • Drilling small holes, useful for intricate projects.
    • Cleaning surfaces using brushes or wire attachments, removing dirt or grime from delicate materials.

How do I use a rotary tool?

Getting started with cordless rotary tools is quick and easy:

    • Prepare your tool by making sure the battery is charged, selecting the right attachment for your task and securely attaching it to the collet.
    • Prepare your work area, ideally a sturdy workbench or table, by removing clutter and providing good lighting. You may want to secure your workpiece with a clamp for stability and put on protective gear such as safety glasses.
    • Adjust the tool's speed to your needs ‒ lower speeds for fine work, higher speeds for heavier tasks.
    • Take a firm, comfortable grip of the tool with both hands and turn it on, allowing it to start spinning before moving it into contact with your work surface.
    • Perform your chosen task by gently moving the tool across your material, applying only light pressure and letting it do the work for you.
    • When finished, turn off the tool, inspect your work, disconnect any attachments and clean your tool and work area. Job done.
