Finding the right drill driver

Our cordless compact drill driver is well suited for DIY beginners and can be used for a variety of tasks, such as erecting fences or putting together furniture. Meanwhile, the RYOBI ONE+™ HP version of the same model features our most advanced brushless technology for maximum performance.

For heavier-duty applications, our ONE+™ HP performance drill driver can deliver 95Nm of torque, giving you the option of use with larger drill bits. It also boasts a side handle to offer added control even on the most difficult jobs. If you need to bore holes into masonry, we recommend using a hammer drill

Why choose a RYOBI drill driver?

All our battery-powered drill drivers are compatible with the RYOBI ONE+™ system, meaning there's no need to invest in a new power unit for each tool. They feature 13mm ratcheting chucks to enhance bit grip strength and 24 torque settings so that you can make sure your screws are always driven flush.

An LED light makes for easier use when working in dark conditions or awkward corners and the two-speed gearbox allows you to configure the speed to suit your application. On top of that, with a three-year guarantee and free delivery to mainland Great Britain, you'll find a level of customer service to match the quality of our cordless drill drivers.

Drill driver FAQs

What is a drill driver?

A drill driver is a versatile power tool that can be used for a range of tasks. It can be paired with drill bits to bore holes in most materials aside from masonry, for which a hammer drill is better suited. You can also use it with screwdriver bits for fixing screws, eliminating the need to have separate tools for each task.

Is a drill driver the same as an impact driver?

No. Drill drivers and impact drivers look similar but they serve different purposes. Impact drivers fix screws, nuts and bolts into materials and deliver higher levels of torque but they are not designed to perform a drilling action. Meanwhile, a drill driver has the capacity to both drill and screw, although typically it cannot do the latter as effectively, especially when you're working with more resistant materials.

What's the difference between a hammer drill and a drill driver

A hammer drill, also known as a percussion drill, operates using a hammering action as it drills. It's best suited to heavy-duty tasks such as drilling through masonry or concrete. Hammer drills tend to be much weightier and more powerful than drill drivers and are not designed to drill into softer materials or secure fastenings.

What's the average runtime on a cordless drill driver?

That will depend on the tool and battery you're using, as well as the job you're working on. As an example, though, here's how long you can expect our 18V ONE+™ HP compact cordless brushless drill driver to last when used on 4x40mm screws or 13x50mm holes in timber:

  • 2.0 AH battery: 800 screws, 300 holes
  • 2.5 AH battery: 1000 screws, 375 holes
  • 4.0 AH battery: 1600 screws, 600 holes
  • 5.0 AH battery: 2400 screws, 750 holes

Are batteries included with your drill drivers?

Most of our cordless drill drivers do not come with batteries included. If you need a power unit as part of your purchase, we do offer a starter kit that features a 2.0 AH battery and charger.
