Organise your herbs when you sow your seeds this Spring with this DIY Potted Plant Pot hack.
As we enter Spring and leave Winter, the soil conditions and climate improves, allowing you to start sowing seeds from March onwards. Many gardeners will take this opportunity to sow their herb garden but give no thought of how to organise or label the herbs once they grow.
Using the RYOBI 18V ONE+ Cordless Rotary Tool you can create these DIY Potted Plants to keep your garden looking nice and organised this Spring!
What you will need:
- RYOBI 18V ONE+™ Cordless Rotary Tool
- Plant Pot
- Chalk
- Painters Tape
- Printed Word Stencil
- Pen
Step 1:
Decide on what herbs you would like to plant in each plant pot. Print off a stencil of each herb you are going to sow in a font you would like. Match the stencils with the plant pot you have decided on.
Step 2:
Once decided, take the printed stencil, and apply the chalk to the back of it by rubbing across the paper. Now, take one of the plant pots and decide where you would like to add the herb name to it. Flip the stencil and position it in the selected spot and secure it with the painters tape.
Step 3:
The next step is to trace the word stencil with a pen. Remember to push down and rub in all the word, not just the outline. This will help the chalk stick to the plant pot where the word is. When you have done this, you can remove the tape and word stencil and your herb name should be left in chalk on the plant pot.
Step 4:
You are now ready to start using the RYOBI 18V ONE+ Cordless Rotary Tool to etch and engrave the herb name to the plant pot. Select the correct accessory end for the Rotary tool for this application (Read and follow instructions in the operator’s manual). Start the Rotary Tool and use it to engrave the herb word in chalk. Remember to work slowly and precisely to work within the stencils lines.
Step 5:
When you have finished engraving the full word you can dust off any etching from the plant pot and clean the plant pot. Your DIY Plant Pot should now be ready with a clear labelled herb name on it. Ready to keep your garden looking nice and organised this Spring!
