How do I dispose of my equipment?
In compliance with European law, Ryobi helps preserve the environment, in collaboration with the approved companies specialised in the collection and recycling of old electrical devices. Please help us continue this effort by not disposing of your devices with household waste. Spent batteries can be disposed of in the collection bins provided at your retailer or at your rubbish tip. Remember that it is dangerous to throw batteries, even spent, on the fire.

Petrol engine tools
Are ready-to-use mixtures bought in the shops suitable?
You are strongly recommended to avoid ready-to-use mixtures, even if they contain additives. Addition of extra synthetic oil to increase the percentage impairs correct engine operation and may cause seizing, as when there is insufficient oil.
How do I make a good petrol mixture?
Two-stroke engines require a mixture of lead-free 95 or 98 octane petrol + 100 % synthetic oil (do not use semi-synthetic oil, since its content is variable and it is impossible to define the correct mixture). The mixture proportions are given in the owner's operating manual: read carefully before starting your tool.
How should I store my Petrol tools?
You are recommended, even when storing for a short period of time (a few days), to drain the petrol tank after use and empty the carburettor. To empty the carburettor, restart the engine after draining the petrol tank and allow the engine to stall when it runs out of petrol. These precautions are essential before winter storage to preserve the lifetime of the seals and membranes in the carburettor.
I have finished using my tool and still have some mixture left. How long can I keep it?
The mixture must be prepared in small quantities each time you use your equipment. A mixture cannot be stored for more than 3 weeks, due to the unstable composition of lead-free 95 or 98 octane petrol and the natural separation of the oil from the petrol. If you prepare the mixture in advance, shake the can vigorously before use. Extended storage may impair operation (difficult starting and acceleration) or even cause the engine to seize, due to separation of the oil and the petrol.

Cordless and Corded power tools
Can I use my sander on plaster?
Plaster is a material with fine highly aggressive dust which quickly clogs up the motor of even the most carefully designed tools. You are strongly recommended not to sand plaster, unless otherwise indicated in the owner's operating manual. This would considerably reduce the lifetime of your tool, and invalidate the warranty.
How to increase battery lifetime?
  • General recommendations concerning battery use:

    ·         Always store in a cool, dry place;

    ·         Do not leave unused for long periods of time;

    ·         Avoid extreme temperatures and humidity ;

    ·         It is recommended to fully charge batteries upon purchase, after use and before a long period of storage

      Depending on the battery type (lead, nickel-cadmium, lithium-ion), the following recommendations apply:

    ·         Lead batteries should be charged at least once every 4 weeks: continuous charging is strongly recommended, since these chargers and batteries were designed accordingly.

    ·         Nickel-cadmium batteries must be fully charged each time to ensure maximum lifetime, mainly for the first charges.

    ·         For optimum operation, lithium-ion batteries require an ambient temperature of at least 10°C

    ·         When Lithium-ion batteries are fully charged, switch off the charger and remove the battery

My electric appliance does not start, what should I do?
Some of our electric appliances (e.g. blow-vacs and chain saws) are equipped with a safety device. Read your owner's operating manual to check the start procedure:

·         on chain saws, the chain brake must be off;

·         on blow-vacs, the bag and the tubes must be fitted in order to start up Check the power available on the socket and the condition of the fuses and the circuit-breaker. Ryobi appliances equipped with the "LiveTool Indicator" can detect whether power is reaching the appliance. Check that the power available is the same as that required to operate the appliance (refer to the owner's operating manual). Check that the electrical connections and the power supply cable are in good condition and that there is no humidity. If you fail to locate a problem on the electrical installation, do not open your appliance yourself: take it to an approved repairer for checking.
