The terms ‘power washing’ and ‘pressure washing’ are generally used interchangeably but there is a distinct difference between the two. A power washer is a portable handheld device that can be used on the go. A pressure washer is a free-standing stationary machine with a hose and a lance, and typically requires mains power. Whilst both methods use pressurised water for cleaning purposes, the main differences relate water pressure.
Both types of machines are effective for various cleaning purposes, but the heat in a power washer will increase efficiency, making it easier to remove dirt and aged stains. The pressure used in a power washer generally ranges between 20-41 BAR whereas the pressure used in a pressure washer ranges from 100-170 BAR.
