Product Description

As part of the Ryobi ONE+™ system of over 150 cordless tools for the home, garden, automotive, crafting and much more, the Ryobi 18V ONE+™ OPP1820 Cordless 20cm Pole Saw is perfect for pruning over-hanging and hard-to-reach branches using the 3m extendable shaft.

Designed for convenience, the ONE+™ Cordless 20cm Pole Lopping Saw removes the need to use a ladder while trimming branches from trees and large bushes. Incorporating a high torque motor producing 5.5m/s chain speed combined with a 20cm Oregon bar and chain produces fast, clean cuts in overhead branches. The automatic chain bar lubrication mechanism and 30° angled cutting head gives the user full control and allows for easy pruning. Supplied with a shoulder strap and weighting only 6kg, it’s easily handled despite its long reach.

Using a 5.0Ah battery (not included), the Ryobi OPP1820 can make up to 100 cuts on a single charge. This is a bare tool - battery and charger are not included.

Effectively, for the most part cut off the shoots as needed, although some cuts were a bit ragged. That could be down to me being on full stretch to make those cuts, though.

 — As Part of the RYOBI One Battery system this was an excellent buyOPP1820

I previously purchased a RYOBI Combi drill with 2 Batteries and have been very impressed. When the Cordless Pruner became available at Homebase on Offer I decided to purchase this as my batteries are, of course, retrofittable. Since using the pruner 5 times I am very pleased and this has allowed me to trim a security hedge to a greater degree than before. The purchase of the pruner was half of that charged by local tree cutters for one annual visit. So it has paid for itself in half of a year!! The Pruner is a chain saw so you have to treat it with GREAT RESPECT and learn how to use it step by step. Being battery powered however makes it much safer than a petrol version (you release your finger from the trigger and the power immediately stops). It is a bit top heavy (due to the motor drive being at the top end) especially with the second extension fitted so you have to get used to that also. I am only using the basic 1.3Ah battery but have not been able to exhaust one in a work session! It seems much quieter that the pre-warned 94dB that RYOBI specify? So far I am delighted with it but the job that it does means it has a hard life so we will see haw it lasts over time. Final comment is that I am very opposed to the modern trend to provide instruction manuals that have NO words. Bearing in mind that we are talking about a chain saw here, it is irresponsible to provide a serious of sometimes ambiguous sketches to instruct on usage.
